What my generation can’t do with computers and a template to build on, these men did with technology that seems ancient today. The Landing Module computer had less than 4,000 programmable words (yes, words– all commands were phrased like “Verb 884″ or “Noun 284″)… and the Saturn’s guidance computer ran on a two megahertz CPU.

Truly, the Apollo astronauts were pioneers.

If only there were a quote about betrayal from some libertarian-esque science fiction TV series I could use here to great ironic and comedic effect.

One of the verses that ties to this hymn is… touching to me.  “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” (2 Timothy 1:5)  I can imagine Timothy reading this letter and reflecting back on his mother and grandmother, tearing up a bit as he did so.  I know I did while reading that verse, and reading the words of the hymn.  Oh, thank You, Lord, that mother’s prayers have followed me…

Now, most of us can (probably) tell where the stanzas used in the trailer come from.  (Hint: not Glenn Beck.)  The writers at The Huffer’s Postings The Huffing Post?  Not so much.  After many statements of how poor a poet Beck was, a few lone conservative voices in the wilderness informed the “educated” Left that the lines were not Beck’s… but Rudyard Kipling’s.

Oops.

Google, motherf… oh wait, I’ve already said that.  Seriously, two minutes with Google will save you from a lot of mocking on the Internet.  But that begs the question: can leftists who use Google stay leftists?  And more importantly– has anybody on the left read Kipling’s “Tommy”?

To add insult to injury, if you’re a part of the dead-tree media, who do you get to review a book by one of the more popular commentators in T.V. right now?  A guy that hates him!  At this point, I’m just going to sit back at pop some popcorn and watch the express plow into the Volkswagen Beetle sitting in the railroad crossing.

I’m still wondering… between Picture #4 and Picture #5, the guy had to turn around with a bear right behind him… how did he do it?

I live near an area that the Rangers train in, and all I can say is… they’re tough. Not many people willingly go into the river swamps… but they do.

* My family took the long way to the U.S., with their longest stop being in Scandinavia.  So I’m actually German – Nordic – Welsh – Scots – Irish.  No wonder I can’t stand the British…
