Too bad he didn’t stop at the next rest area, because I’d have loved to get a few pictures with them.  Maybe I could have even talked them into letting me take a picture of me in cuffs, being pushed into the back seat…  Oh, yes, that would have made for the perfect leftist bait…  1. Send picture to university paper staff.  2. Wait for leftists to begin howling about Border Patrol.  3. Release picture of Smiling Dixie and Border Patrol agents.  4. Enjoy the backlash against newspaper staff.

All I have to say is…

So, I pulled the lev… err, filled in the bubble for Marco Rubio with just moderate hopes.  At the very best, I was hoping for a kinda-likable guy who wouldn’t burn the country down until 2016.  Then he goes and does this:

(Blinks)  What?  Actually agreeing that people with (R) behind their names could share in the blame?  Talking about American exceptionalism?  Invoking God’s name?  Maybe this guy won’t be a forgetful ass when he gets to Washington…

Oh, and as far as President Rubio?  Please, please, I beg you, rest of the country… don’t open a vacancy… Charlie Crist might wrangle his way into it…  You can have him in 2016.  Maybe 2022.

On a side note, this is an anniversary of sorts for me.  Two years ago today, I walked into a gun store and purchased my Springfield XD.  (No CCW permit, so I went back and brought it home the next Friday.)  It’s been a fun two years– I’ve added plenty of company to the gun cabinet, and I’ve went from RINO to radical libertarian.  Oh, yeah, and I blog now, too.  Sometimes.

Now, i just have to get used to saying “Senator Rubio.”  (Lights cigar)

*Yeah, you thought I was to the point before?  Well, that presentation I was talking about?  Turns out we went 20:59, not 19:59– the professor gave our female teammate a minute.  Seeing as we got not question and answer time, our “A+” presentation was graded “B+.”  So, to keep us from being docked a letter grade the next time, and to please the mademoiselle, I’m working on being as quick as possible.  (Wait, that sounded wrong…)

I’d been saving news stories for a while, looking to make a massive, epic, Kevin-Baker-style post on the election… but I really don’t have the energy.  I know that it’s going to be a good election for the conservative/libertarian/get-the-hell-off-my-back side, but exactly how much treachery is the Left going to pull?  I know more than a few leftists who have given up and stayed home because of (insert your fave here– “Rethuglikkan triks!”  “partisan circus mentality” “OMG GEROJ BUSH!”)… will it be enough to make this a truly epic landslide?

So, for now, I’m just sipping coffee and watching these four sites:

If you don’t recognize the group that did it, I present you with the video that made the rounds a while back.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go put on some Zeppelin and eat cheddar cheese.

As you can guess, the numbers the media has been throwing out have been lowballed.  (In the figures by CBS, by a few hundred thousand…)  Compare the crowd at the rally with the crowd from the “I Have A Dream” speech, and then with a few other crowd sizes, and it becomes apparent that there was a good-sized crowd.  (Waiting for somebody on the left to claim it’s all clones.  Yes, we’ve built our own Grand Army of the Republic, lefties…)

Of course, the commentary from said leftists has become… well, to be blunt, the sheep from Animal Farm had more cognitive ability than the commentators I’ve seen so far.  Case in point (via I Own The World):

The damn teabaggers and right wing Beckheads had the nerve to plant people in the crowd with trash bags coordinating cleaning up after themselves. Typical conservative selfishness that stops the union park service from work and earning a living. What right to they have to take jobs from the hard working men and women in DC. Their selfish, self-centered, and malicious manners make me sick.

So… not trashing our nation’s capital is selfish, because we’re somehow taking the bread from the mouths of union workers.  This would explain the condition the Coronation crowd left D.C. in– “Hurricane Latrina.”  (No, I didn’t think that one up.)  Also, I’m laughing at the “hard working” bit.  Then there’s the fact that (apparently) the entire crowd was “white trash,” complete with Igloo coolers and beer helmets.

The funniest part is that the left is becoming unhinged at Beck holding the rally at the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of Dr. King’s speech.  “The Ultimate Thumb In the Eye,” they’re saying.  I have to ask… why?  Dr. King was a registered Republican– as was his father– and Republicans were seen as the defenders of civil liberties until 1964, when LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act into law.  (Ironically, LBJ opposed the CRA in 1957, when he was Senate Majority Leader during Eisenhower’s time as President.  You have to make hay when the Sun shines, I guess.)

So, all in all, it was a good rally– no-one got hurt (even though the Black Panthers and Al Sharpton promised they’d show up… ), the place was left in better shape (oh, the poor park employees with nothing to do…), and a large chunk of money ($5 million plus) was raised to help out a very good cause.
