Down the memory hole

with 2 comments

Weer’d had a video up of of a Tea Party member getting beat down by a leftist.  The video has been pulled from YouTube, but an alternative (and the story) are here.

Turns out, the guy blames all our woes on Bush.  (Checks calendar)  Guys, isn’t it 2010?  Now, I’ve joked about not being in my home dimension before, but in my reality, a preppy know-nothing named Obama became President in 2009.  Is Bush so powerful that he can cause us harm from across time?!?!?!?  Is he sitting on a his throne in the Oval Office in 2008, ruby rings on his hands while he fiddles with our time?  Has everyone reading this figured out that I’m trying to make a Flash Gordon reference?

Reading the local paper this week, I saw a letter to the editor bemoaning how the “teabaggers” were dissing Obama, even after he helped us out of the recession.  Excuse me… out?  We’re still in the bloody thing!  It’s almost like the left is in their own little world… maybe we can seal off the rift, and leave them there?

Which would be worse…

alien invasion or Obama?

Err, depends.  Are we talking Vulcans or Shivans here?  ‘Cuz right now, a transport full of Vulcans landing on the White House lawn would be a sight for sore eyes.  Of course, if it was the Vasudans, Barry would probably flub the speech and get us in a shooting war.  Then he’d flub the surrender ceremony and get us annihilated.  Or enslaved.

Dear England–

When you fall to the Muslims, don’t call us in America.  After all, your own royalty has said that Islam is a good, environmentally-friendly religion.  Which is true… blood is an excellent fertilizer.

Everyone is a criminal.

with 2 comments

There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking the laws. …just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on the guilt.   — Dr. Ferris, Atlas Shrugged

Weer’d has a post up about stupid laws and how they’re not enforced.  He points to one of Florida’s stupid laws (tie an elephant to a parking meter, and you have to pay the meter).  I’m going to point to a few more.

In Florida, you cannot-

  1. Shower naked (no, I’m not f*cking kidding)
  2. Fart in public after 6 P.M. (local or Eastern?)
  3. Break more than 3 dishes a day (take THAT, clumsy waiters!)
  4. Fall asleep under the hair dryer at a salon (half the older ladies in my area just became criminals.)
  5. Wear a strapless dress if you are a male (but what if it matches my shoes?)
  6. Sing in public while wearing a swimsuit (spring breakers, watch out…)
  7. Live together and commit “lewd acts” while unmarried (now my favorite cousin’s a criminal…)
  8. Commit “un-natural” acts on anyone (wait, what’s “un-natural”?)
  9. Have sex, unless it’s missionary style (ahh, I think I figured “un-natural” out, guys…)
  10. Kiss your wife’s boobs  (wait a second, I though that was cool under 7?)
  11. Have sex with a porcupine (wasn’t this covered under 8?)
  12. “Third Base” is off-limits.  Period.  (But what if you’re in the approved position?)

Translation– if you’ve been to Florida on spring break, you’re a criminal.  Period.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to arrest myself and wait for the police to arrive.  I know I have a pair of handcuffs around here somewhere…

Libertarians… in… SPACE!

without comments

The SpaceX Falcon 9 has had its first successful flight… with a dummy Orion replacement on board, to boot.  Video highlights here (ignore the dirt dauber trying to nest in the camera housing, they aren’t that big… really).

This highlights something I’ve believed ever since I began edging into libertarianism (and Tam has pointed out the same thing)– private enterprise beats the pants off governmental agencies in the spaceflight arena.  Think about it– NASA can’t even keep up a reliable transport to the ISS (much less the Moon), but private enterprise can conceive, build, and launch a new transport in less than five years.

Of course, it still looks like astronauts will have to hitch rides from the Russians, but maybe it’ll be a one time thing now.

Somebody call the loony bin…

Grayson’s escaped again.  He wants to put a neon sign outside his office (he’s watched Boogie Nights one time too many, methinks…) and he thinks he can win the Republican primary in his district.  Remind me again why everyone thinks the Tea Partiers are the dangerous ones?

Rats v. Squirrels

without comments

Everybody hates rats– they spread disease, chew things that don’t like being chewed on, and generally try to invade any space humans improve above the level of a cave.  They’re ugly, destructive, and dangerous.  On the other hand, many people like squirrels.  Even though squirrels spread disease, chew things… wait, they’re just as bad as rats.  But they’re cute and popular.

Thought exercise– two neighbors, in side by side houses, have rodent problems.  Neighbor A has a rat in his house, and Neighbor B has a squirrel in his attic.  How do they handle these problems?  Neighbor A will put out some traps to kill the rat, and Neighbor B will live-trap the squirrel and make the rodent someone else’s problem.  What would the reaction in the neighborhood be if Neighbor A live-trapped his rat and set it loose in the woods behind the school and Neighbor B used a nice trap like this for Mr. Tree Rat?

I’m guessing somewhere between “cold shoulder” and “torches and pitchforks.”

Now, why bring this up?  Because we have the same set of biases going on at a national level– we just got rid of a rat (Bush), but everyone still wants to feed the squirrel (Obama), even after he’s chewed the house’s wiring to crap.  A rodent’s a rodent, and a totalitarian is a totalitarian.

Red Tape Follies

without comments

Miguel is having to go through the ordeal of filling out paperwork for the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.  Which I can tell you from personal experience, is a pain in the hindquarters.  Meanwhile, the department that issues carry permits (Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services) is much easier to deal with– less paperwork, easier to contact, and friendlier.

But then, DoACS is run by Charles Bronson…

Decent Results

with 2 comments

Specter out, Lincoln in a runoff, and Burns (the Tea Party candidate) loses the special election 43% to 53%… in a district that’s 2:1 D:R.  This, of course, is “proof” to the Left that “Remember November” is a pipe dream.

I would like to point out something to the leftists… so far, the only Dems to win elections have been the ones Obama has not campaigned for.  The only Dems to win elections have been Critz (who “ran” PA-12 for Murtha) and Owens (who was endorsed by his Republican opponent, yet managed to win by only 4,000 votes).

Of course, the gloating of the leftists is… well, lemme show you an example from here:

it was a “2-1″ district when michael steele said the republootard was guaranteed to win

it was a “2-1″ district when the terrorist teabaggers were gloating about the impending Democratic loss

the results are only shocking if you have been listening to the fool teabagger terrorists and actually believed their pipe dreams

it was a Democratic district, and you idiots have been talking like you had already won the seat

well

suck on THIS, teabagger terrorist

I look forward to your excuses in November

start writing those lies now

I love these loving, cuddly leftists!

Press hype. Rand Paul is a loser in the general election. Look at the number of votes cast for both party’s. Paul is a nut case and out of touch. Spector had to go.

The PA 12th district tells the story. Democrats win because the big change of course was in 2008.

After November the Democrats will keep both houses, and some surpises there will be.
