Jogged my memory…

with 2 comments

This post by Linoge kept tickling the back of my mind. I just figured out what it reminded me of.

O, the parallels! A man who was given his position and enjoys what those before him have built up getting a message… and not being able to understand it, but knowing that he needed to be afraid. One verse in particular makes me smile.

17Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Makes me want to dress up in the heigth of Babylonian fashion and make a trip to D. C. “This is the writing that has been written, Mr. President: TOO FAR, TOO FAR, FAILURE, ROLL BACK. “

A notice.

without comments

In the past week, we’ve lost two good people in the gun community: rightwingprof and Byron Quick.  I’ve never met either one of them, but I did know of them, and it’s always sad to lose someone from the community.

Here’s a toast to absent friends, with the faith that we’ll meet again.

Prayer Request

without comments

Via Breda, a prayer request.  The short version is that a man killed his wife and mother-in-law, wounded his father-in-law, and the man’s kids were present.

The man making the request quotes from Job, but I find Job as a whole too dark.  So, I will leave you with a quote from the Psalmist.

12 Arise, O LORD!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.

13 Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.

14 But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

Farther along we’ll know more about it
Farther along we’ll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it all by and by…

(I always get choked up during this song.  “cheer up my bro-ther… live in the sun-shine…”)

Prayer Requests

without comments

Passing two prayer requests along.

First, a friend of mine is in the hospital.  Pneumonia, collapsed lung, even a dash of H1N1.  Pray for him, and if you can, donate a little.  He’s now out of work, and in a bad situation.

Next– from Uncle comes the news that Mike Vanderboegh is doing decent… not okay, but decent.  Keep him in your prayers, too.
