2081

with one comment

A 2081 movie is coming out. For those of you who haven’t read it, here is the Wikipedia article about the Vonnegut story it is based on.

I read the story as a kid, in middle school. It struck me, and made me realize that dumbing myself down to help others was an idiotic idea. All men are created equal– we don’t stay that way.

Irony

without comments

Bob Dylan was arrested a while back– mistaken for a homeless man.  The irony?  The officer’s name was Buble.  (No, not that Buble.)

Atlas Shrugged – The Movie

without comments

So, apparently, Atlas Shrugged is being turned into a movie, due out in 2011. Two cats and a Hornet have a good video promoting the movie, and Linoge has been reading the book. I hope they get this right. Atlas Shrugged is a good book, but it will need a balanced hand to make a good movie.

Who is John Galt?

Oh no, you didn’t!

Kanye West grabs the mike out of Taylor Swift’s hand at the MTV award show.

Taylor? You’re taller, he’s drunk, and you have a statue in your hands. The best thing is that you could write a song about it afterwards. Just sayin’.

Good news

with 2 comments

John Stossel is moving to Fox Business Channel, and will be doing more segments on Fox News. First Don Imus, then Stossel… who’s next? I’m betting on Nancy Grace, but that’s just me. I actually thought she would be the next one to move– she and Glenn Beck are friends, and ever since he left for Fox, Headline News has been plugging holes in the lineup with Nancy Grace spinoffs.

Better yet, if Lou Dobbs moved to Fox or Fox business, that would really hurt CNN. He’d fit right in, too.

I’ll be watching this now.

without comments

Never watched Firefly when it was out, didn’t think it was my type of SF. Now that I’ve watched Dollhouse, though, I need to go back and see it. SF + Westerns = Awesome. Brigid has another take on it, and leads into a list of what makes up a… well, I’d say gentleman, but that’s just me. What I wanted to post was this excellent video she uses. Enjoy.

Civic Literacy

with 4 comments

For fun, here is a civic literacy test.  How well do you know your liberties?  (Of course, I’m talking to a bunch of gun nuts and libertarians.  Y’all should ace this.)  For a little Monday morning downer, read the summary of their findings about what Americans know.

Found him!

without comments

I finally found the guy all the Democrats have been talking about! You know, the “well dressed” armed mobster? Yeah, I found him!

art-mademan

I mean, he’s not carrying a swastika or anything, but you can’t see his lapels- he’s probably got sig runes on them!

Edit:

Realize some people may not recognize where this picture is from.  It is from a game called Fallout 2, from one of the in-game achievements called “Made Man.”
