That said, “because I can” is a perfectly valid, acceptable, and rational reason for an individual to do something that he or she wants to do that has no impact on anyone else.

"If it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg..."

And cowardice part is why "group rights" come about. If they can make it okay for the GROUP to do something, then THEY can sit back and *MAKE* the GROUP do it. Reference: military service, police service, medical service, etc., etc.

That said, "because I can" is a perfectly valid, acceptable, and rational reason for an individual to do something that he or she wants to do that has no impact on anyone else.

However, if you force someone else to do something, whether it is by vote or by a firearm to their forehead, it makes no difference whatsoever.

Or, rather, the only difference is your level of cowardice - only a spineless blob hides behind the shield of "democracy" when seeking to infringe upon other people's rights.

One day I will understand how people can compartmentalize their minds down to the point where they are unwilling to and incapable of doing the door-to-door work themselves to enforce their will, but have absolutely no problems with getting governmental entities and agents to do it for them. Hell, even with the majority on their side, they are still unwilling to do the dirty work themselves, which says a great deal about their character and integrity.

But, damn, put the stamp of governmental approval on something, and they would sell their grandmother down the river.
