Q: What happens when 911 can’t respond, and you know jack about first aid?

A: You get to watch someone die.

Q: Why turn down CPR training, then?

A: 911 will always respond!

Notice the circular logic here?  To quote Miguel:

It saddens the hell out of me that people are willing to be mentally castrated this way. In order to save face, they rather depend on the kindness of the Government to help them get out of trouble. Then when their dreams dead stop as they hit the shoals of reality, they moan and complain and demand more government control. It is sort of trying to treat a rattlesnake bite by injecting more poison into your veins. It must hurt to think logically while pride is in the way.

In High School, one required course was CPR and First Aid.  No certification, but you had to pass it.  You know what the only error I made in my final CPR test was?  I didn’t call out for assistance.  I hope if I’m down on the ground, pumping someone’s chest and locking lips with them, that a passerby will connect the dots.  I might have to rethink that, though…

The first thing even medical providers are taught now is to activate the emergency system in some way; by telling another to get help, or by immediately calling for help THEN starting CPR.

DON’T expect a passerby to do ANYTHING without instruction!

“DON’T expect a passerby to do ANYTHING without instruction!”

Now that I’ve gone out into the world and experienced things, I agree with that.

Yep, every class I’ve taken starts with activating the emergency system. I like to keep my certification current. This year, I’m doing a full day course instead of just the one hour re-certification.
