Stupak retires. From the article:
Calling himself a “rare breed” — a pro-life Democrat — Stupak insisted that attacks on him for his role in the abortion debate did not influence his decision to retire and he could win re-election if he tried. “It wasn’t one thing. It was a number of things,” he said. “It came to the point where I said, ‘I’ve accomplished all I want to do. Either I run again and I’ll be there forever or time to make the break. It’s time for me to move on.’” [...] Obama called Stupak on Wednesday to talk him out of retiring, Fox News learned.
“Aww, c’mon, Bart! You Dems have ME! You will win this election! Heck, I’ll come out to Michigan and help you campaign this weekend!” At which point, there was a loud CLICK and then a dial tone as Stupak hung up and raced to hold a press conference…
Also, the next one to go might be Bawney Fwank. (Is it sad that the HillBuzz guys are waiting for him to go? I mean, if gay Democrats have abandoned Bawney, isn’t it time to just pack up and go home?)
