Remember this post? Remember me talking about the “hand in the cookie jar defense?” You know, “oh, mom, I wasn’t taking a cookie, I was just… umm… counting them! Yeah, counting them!” From the viewpoint of the person making this defense, the target of the defense must be either 1) stupid or 2) oblivious. So a person who respected the intelligence of those they were debating would never use it, right?
That’s what I thought. I mean, this this totally unexpected, and I never saw it coming. I mean, they totally stood by their posts, right? I’m just glad that no other anti-gunners act like this, and happy that actions like this aren’t entry #6 on a list published almost a year ago.
I kinda wanted to do this subtly and not do a snark broadside, but hey, that’s how I roll.
I wonder if Mrs. SFL was ever taught the old lawyer adage: never let your ego get so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it. Probably not, that sounds to… conservative. Better to just try revising history, right?
There are two clear lessons here. One– if your position is not logically sound, do not attempt to defend it. Two– like diamonds, the Internet is forever.

I didn’t mind her trying to defend her position.
Heck, I’ve had some “not logically sound” positions before and it took someone saying “WHAT???” to get my attention about it.
What I found interesting was that I was attacked for asking questions about something she posted on the internet, that I was called a troll for discussing something she wanted the world to know how she felt about.
I’ll take those attacks in stride, because I feel defending our rights is important enough. The threat of physical violence was over the line — hopefully they have learned a valuable lesson. And in the end, that is what counts.

“And in the end, that is what counts.”
The problem is what lesson did they learn? That any mistake can be wiped away? Or that their positions are illogical and untenable?

Revisionist history for the loss, I guess.

Emails have been exchanged between a few people and SFL.
Not sure how she developed her distribution list but seeking to be able to make things public.
Hopefully we will see what they’ve learned.

Good. Maybe they sat back and realized their tantrum was indicative of bigger problems.
