Very good, but little known sci-fi movie. Decent plot, okay special effects, and two very good selling points. The first is the fact that Jan-Michael Vincent and George Peppard get to launch nukes. The second is the Landmaster. Worth a watch, if just for the horrible graphics work done on the sky scenes, and the cockroach scene.
20th Century Fox made two science fiction movies in 1977. They expected Damnation Alley to be a smash; the other movie, not so much. The “other movie” was a little indie flick called Star Wars.

I like that movie. I’ve seen it several times. If I ever find it on DVD I’ll probably buy it.
The special effects aren’t up to modern standards, but for the time they were pretty good and I’ve always enjoyed the plot.

Good news, Curt. It’s out on iTunes and Amazon’s video on demand site, and is in the process of being released on DVD. There are a few sites that have it on DVD, but they’re sketchy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damnation_Alley_(film)#Video_.26_DVD_Release

classic late 1970 movie, has the fella from Airwolf in it, who’s never changes — ever.
Still a good movie for the TBS crowd.
