Okay, taking a break from typing the Mind Crushing Papers of Doom.

It hit me recently that American politics right now is paralleling certain movies.

My first choice was Rocky IV.  I mean, seriously… I find it odd that nobody in Washington on 9/12 had a sign with Ivan Drago staring at Pelosi with the caption “I must BREAK you.”  Underdog fights a superhuman who has the backing of the powerful and he wins.  Perfect parallel with modern politics.

But then I hit on the one character who embodies the American voter perfectly– Robocop.

Think about it– Catholic family man doing a job he loves, keeping his city from going totally crazy, who gets killed by a drug dealer with a racially balanced crew.  Family man comes back from the dead with a shiny new body and proceeds to bring Truth, Justice, and The American Way to said gang, and then goes after the company who built him.

For a second installment, he goes after a drug dealer with a messianic complex.  Gets hurt on the job and is denied comp pay.  His bosses try to turn him into a tame dog; he responds by doing a little self introspection with the help of a few thousand volts.  Proceeds to hunt down and destroy Drug Messiah, who has become the embodiment of “abuse of power.”

And of course, Red Dawn.  Wolverines!
