A Dixie Carpetbagger

I need to quit reading.

Well, my local newspaper, at least.  They have a column in the “Local” section where selected reader comments from their forum are printed.  One of the comments today got me a little upset,  it was from a local who said something on the order of “the party of NO should step aside so that the Progressives can make America into a good country.”

EXCUSE ME?

I suggest– as politely as I can, that you rethink what constitutes a “great nation.”  Not a single European nation has a growing population… and that is accounting for the influx of immigrants from India and the Middle East they all are experiencing.  Why should we model ourselves after nations that can’t even inspire their own citizens to make more citizens?

Also, as an aside, Mr. Progressive?  As far as the health care aspect goes… look at our own Native American population.  They are guaranteed health care by treaty.  Yet our Congress sees fit to fund their care at only 40-50%.  Thus a saying on reservations: “Don’t get sick after June!

Oh dear God, I stopped reading the local Atlanta paper a long time ago. About the only use for it is starting firers or getting coals for the grill heated up.
