Real Home Defense

From Brigid, an article about real home defense.  She picks up on something I’ve had a beef with for a while: alarm company commercials.  You know, the ones where every common sense method of defending your home is violated, and the bad guys break in while the family is home, but the sound of the alarm magically drives them off?  Yeah, they never made sense to me, either.  Of course, last time I had to call the police, it was over a half hour before a deputy arrived.  “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away…”

Yeh, and like Neal Boortz says on his radio program (this is one of his favorite commercials) look at the color of the bad guys, they just leave when she shouts at them. If that was truly a bad guy home invader he would have raped her right there on the stairs and left the mess to go after the kids. Hey call me a bigot if you want but it’s the truth. My wifes thing about these commercials is the calm way she answers the phone when the alarm company calls but the police would probably never get there except it appears to be an upscale neighborhead.

The calmness gets to me, too. But I do find it interesting that the cops get to the scene before the neighbors do. Great neighborhood watch, guys!
