Doe, a deer, a female deer!

with 7 comments

Of course, it always happens. When season is out, and you have nothing to hurt them with, the wildlife just comes out to play. (See Rule #6) I was eating supper when I got a call to come to the door. “Is that… a buck?” Nope, it’s a doe. Matter of fact, the same exact one that’s almost run both of us over. She’s decided that the back yard is hers, and us stinkin’ humans are gonna stay out of it, see? So I get to spend 10 minutes watching a beautiful doe strut through my backyard, and I can’t so much as spit at it. (sigh) Well, at least it wasn’t one of the panthers that’s been seen near the house. At least Mrs. Bambi won’t eat me.

    You should try deer roping!

    On second thought, maybe not!

Wow. Yeah, not gonna try that. Unless I tied the rope off to a tractor first…

What, you haven’t got a RED RIDER 600 shot lever action BB rifle with the compass in the stock? If not, you certainly NEED one. Works perfectly on deer out of season that are in your back yard.

Pick up a bow, some arrows and some very sharp broadheads…

Mikee, I’d hate to see what a BB gun did to this doe. She’s an ill tempered rodent to begin with. I can see that headline now:

    LOCAL MAN KILLED BY DOE
Officials say the man was attempting to hunt with an air rifle…

Wai, oh yes. However, she has the good sense not to charge a person when they’re armed. Pity, she’s beefed herself up. Mmm, grass fed venison.

We live in the suburbs next to I-475 not really a wooded area, though close to a Scout reservation and a public park. Saw a doe just over the fence by the highway, close enough to spit at. Then a couple weeks later, I was putting the propane grill away and saw a beautiful buck standing in the middle of the yard across the street. Neighbors might have gotten bent out of shape if I got the 30.06 out and took it down.

Kahiel, I have one word for you: suppressor. (chuckle)
